How to use the SPF generator

Select every service that sends email with your domain in the From address — your mailbox provider, newsletter tool, CRM, help desk and website. Add the IP addresses of your own servers if they send mail. Copy the record and publish it as a TXT record on the root of your domain (host @), replacing any existing SPF record.

Each include: costs at least one of the 10 DNS lookups SPF allows. After publishing, run the SPF Checker to count nested lookups, and read how to fix too many lookups if you go over.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I add the SPF record?

At your DNS host as a TXT record on the root of the domain (host "@"). Replace any existing SPF record — only one is allowed.

Should I use ~all or -all?

Use ~all while you set up DMARC; -all is stricter and fine once every sender is listed.

How many includes can I add?

Evaluation may use at most 10 DNS lookups including nested includes. Check the result with the SPF Checker.
